Philip C. Jessup Moot Court

 

The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, simply known as Jessup Moot Court (JMC), is the largest and most prestigious moot competition globally. JMC teams comprise 2 to 5 members and the judges are 3 instead of 15 (the number of judges in a real trial). The competition is held in oral and written parts; in the written part, the competitors should produce memorials.
The Jessup Moot Court Team at ATU was established in 2013. The main awards of the team include:
— The Best Memorial prize at national level, 2013; by virtue of this prize, the team was admitted into the global championship as an observer team;
— The Best Memorial Prize at national level, 2016;
— Two ATU members, Esmaeil Yaghoubi and Elnaz Nesari, judged in the international round, for the first time;
— The Best Memorial Prize at national level, 2019;
— The winner at the 2019 national round;
— In 2014, ATU team consisted of Tina Sedghiani Aval, Zahra Moshref Javadi, Esmail Yaghoubi, Yousef Babaei, and Elnaz Nassari;
— In 2015, ATU team consisted of Negin Nade-ali, Saeed Kaveh, and Farzad Fallah;
— In 2016, ATU team consisted of Maryam Aghaei, Farzaneh Montakhab, Saeed Kaveh , and Moeen Arefi-Fard. The team was coached by Tina Sedghiani Aval;
— In 2017, ATU team consisted of Nima Shojai, Fatemeh Mohammadi, Amin Motamedi, Sima Ghaffari, and Bahar Babapour. The team was coached by Zahra Moshref Javadi and Moein Arefi Fard;
— In 2019, the team was admitted into the global championship in Washington DC and was ranked 38 among 640 teams, making it the highest rank earned by an Iranian team in Jessup history. Members of the team included Parmida Asadi, Helia Tahanha, Mazyar Aghasi Javid, Paria Keramatkhah, and Aisan Naderi and they were coached by Farzad Fallah and Dr Esmail Yaghoubi;
— In 2020, ATU team consisted of Ali Masoudian, Houman Heravi, Elahe Kazemzadeh, and Fatemeh Omrani. They were coached by Farzaneh Montakhab and Dr Katayoun Hosseinnezhad.
