Henry Dunant Moot Court

In 2001, ICRC Regional Delegation for South Asia, initiated the Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition, with the aim of promoting better awareness of IHL among law students at universities throughout India. This competition is named in memory of Mr Henry Dunant, the co-founder of the ICRC and the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in 1863. The reputation and status of the Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition has grown steadily since its inception in 2001.In 2005 the Henry Dunant Moot Court Competition was expanded to include a regional competition, drawing teams from countries across South Asia. The national Moot Court competition is followed by regional competitions. The principal objective of the Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition is to develop an increased awareness and interest in IHL in academic institutions throughout South Asia. A further objective is to use IHL to further academic excellence in the student community, and to develop their advocacy skills in an environment of friendly competition.
In 2006, for the first time, an Iranian team from ATU participated in the regional rounds of this competition. Iran held its national rounds for the first time in 2009.
In 2014 round, the team of Allameh Tabataba’i University was announced as the winner of the national competition. In that round, ATU team was formed as follows:
Members: Saeed Kaveh, Keivan Eghbali, and Sana Azizzadeh;
Coach: Zahra Moshref Javadi.

In 2015, ATU team qualified to the regional round in Pakistan. The team was announced as the runner up and qualified to the final round in Hong Kong. In this round, ATU team consisted of Maryam Aghaee, Farzad Fallah, Nasrin Miraghazadeh, and the team was coached by Zahra Moshref Javadi.
In 2016, ATU team consisted of Amirhossein Dadkhah, Ali Zohreh, Ali Masoudian, Mohsen SeyedAhamadi, Katayoun Ashrafi, Amirreza Azarshad, Niloufar Forouzanfar, Farzaneh montakhab, and Fatemeh Mohamaddi. The team was also coached by Maryam Aghaee and Moein Arefi.
In 2017, ATU team members were Ali Tousi, Bahar Babapour, and Leyla Ebrahimi. Ms Farzaneh Montekhab also coached the team.
In 2018, ATU team included Parmis Mirdar Harijani, Ali Nazari Farsani, and Akram Heidary as its members. ATU team's coach in this year was Ali Zohreh.
